The Science Education Institute is in need of highly competent and with potential applicants for the following vacant positions:

Finance and Administrative Division

No.: 1. 

Position Title: Administrative Officer V (Budget Officer III)

Item No.: SEIB-ADOF5-4-2004

Salary Grade: 18

Annual Salary: ₱505,908.00

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise and control the various activities and functions of the Budget Unit for effective deployment of the agency resources;

Supervise, review and participate in the preparation and compilation of financial data needed in formulation of annual budget;

Attend series of budget hearings and meetings to analyze trends affecting budget needs;

Coordinate budgetary and fiscal activities of the agency with DOST and DBM for any changes and new trend in budgeting process;

Allocate and monitor budget utilization/obligations and control expenditures of funds in accordance with the government budgeting rules;

Coordinate with different divisions the budget allocation to ensure that any changes and adjustments on their respective budgets are made in accordance with the agency programs.

Prepare and submit budget proposals, financial reports and other budgetary reports to address regulatory requirements for timely submission to various government agencies; and

Perform such other duties that may be assigned from time to time for the effective and efficient delivery of the services of the Institute.

Qualification Standards

  • Education: Bachelor's degree relevant to the job

Science and Technology Scholarship Division

Position Title: Senior Science Research Specialist

Salary Grade: 19

Annual Salary: ₱561,492.00

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise, coordinate and control the implementation of the Science and Technology Scholarship Programs;

Supervise the screening, selection and identification of scholars in the Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarship Programs using existing scholarship policies and other statutory and regulatory issuances to ensure accurate and timely release of scholarship examination/application evaluation results;

Assist in conceptualizing and formulating projects/activities by preparing project proposals that are aligned to the Institute's mandates;

Recommend revision in operational procedures and processes by employing appropriate methodologies to enhance implementation of programs and projects of the division;

Monitor scholar's academic performance through personal interview of scholars and evaluation of grades and appeals for reinstatement of scholarship to ensure continuous release of financial assistance;

Take charge in the preparation, printing and reproduction of the test materials for the scholarship examination by referring to the terms of reference to ensure security and integrity of examination; and

Review test items to be used in the scholarship examination by conducting test development workshops, items analyses and pilot testing of new test items to ensure good item are used in the examination.

Science and Technology Manpower Education Research and Promotion Division

Position Title: Science Research Specialist I

Salary Grade: 13

Annual Salary: ₱321,048.00

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the development, monitoring and implementation of projects relative to STEM Career Promotion to the youth;

Assist in the preparation and submission of quality reports relative to the implementation of the project vis-à-vis approved proposal;

Assist in the periodic and timely submission of monitoring and evaluation reports of STEM Career Promotion Programs/Projects of the division;

Assist in the collected accurate data in the development of STEM Career Promotion Programs/Projects of the division to achieve performance standards;

Assist in the compliance to government accounting and auditing procedures in preparation of STEM Career Promotion Programs/Projects fiscal reports of the division;

Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time for the efficient and effective delivery of service of the Institute.

Science Education and Innovations Division

Position Title: Supervising Science Research Specialist

Salary Grade: 22

Annual Salary: ₱802,404.00

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conceptualize, formulate, develop and recommend programs related to science education;

Supervise the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects related to teacher training and development of teaching/learning resources;

Lead in the review and revision of operational procedures and processes for the implementation of projects of the Division;

Establish and maintain linkages, local and international, with relevant sectors and institutions for collaborative undertakings in science education;

Prepare, review and finalize technical and financial reports;

Must satisfy core competencies: Exemplifying Integrity, Delivering Profession and Excellent Service; and Solving Problems and Making Decisions.

Qualification Standards

  • Education: Bachelor's degree relevant to the job
  • Training: sixteen (16) hours of relevant training
  • Experience: Three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Eligibility: Career Service-Professional/Second Level Eligibility

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the review and revision of operational procedures and processes for the implementation of projects of the Division;

Establish and maintain linkages, local and international, with relevant sectors and instituttions for collaborative undertakings in science education;

Prepare technical and financial reports related to implementation and monitoring of projects of the Unit;

Must satisfy the core competencies: Exemplifying Integrity; Delivering Professional and Excellent Service; and Solving Problems and Making Decisions.

Position Title: Science Research Specialist I

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the implementation of projects and activities of the Division that are related to science education;

Assist in the encoding and analysis of data using basic statistical tools and techniques;

Assist in the preparation of technical reports and other documents;

Must know how to use basic technology (office software and equipment) in the performance of assigned tasks;

Must satisfy the core competencies: Exemplifying Integrity; Delivering Professional and Excellent Service; and Solving Problems and Making Decisions.
