07 December 2018
The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) is best-known for its science scholarship programs, but to truly strengthen science and technology education in the country, the agency recognizes that providing scholarships to deserving students is not enough.
“There’s always a need for practical and creative science teachers and learning materials,” says DOST-SEI Director Josette Biyo. “We aim to capacitate our teachers and encourage them to be innovative in the teaching and learning of STEM. This is why we come up with projects like Innobox,” Biyo adds.
Innobox: Search for the Most Innovative Teaching and Learning Resources in Science is one of the competitions organized by the agency. Now on its sophomore run, it continues to challenge science teachers to come up with ideas for more engaging science learning experience in the classroom.
