A total of 59 second year college students secure educational grants as the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) announces the names of qualifiers under the DOST-SEI Bangon Marawi Program in Science and Technology Human Resource Development (STHRD) – Batch 3.

These successful examinees are among the 147 who took the pen-and-paper qualifying examination administered by the DOST-SEI on November 17, 2022 at the Mindanao State University-Main Campus (Marawi).

In addition, 16 more potential qualifiers – whose names do not appear in the published list – are also under consideration, pending resubmission of requirements for further evaluation.

Qualifiers who will avail of the grants will enjoy benefits over a maximum of four years, which includes monthly stipend, learning materials and/or connectivity allowance, among others, starting in the First Semester of Academic Year 2022-2023. Thus, it is a retroactive benefit for scholars.

Upon completion of their degree programs, scholars under the Bangon Marawi Program shall be working in their fields of specialization in the country, ideally in their home regions, for a period equivalent to the length of years in which they enjoyed the scholarship.

The Bangon Marawi Program is one of the Department’s responses to rebuild the human and social infrastructures of Marawi City after the 2017 siege. It provided scholarships for Marawi students enrolled in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs in the undergraduate and graduate levels for two batches in 2018 and 2019.
