9 HS vie for Best Innovative Practices in Managing Large Classes

Nine high schools from the different regions in the country will contend for having the Best Innovative Practices in Managing Large Classes in science and mathematics.
Central Azucarera De Tarlac High School-Annex in Tarlac City, Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National HS in Biñan City, Calamba Bayside National HS in Calamba City, Tabaco National HS in Tabaco City, Cordova National HS in Cebu, Digos City National HS in Davao del Sur, Surigao City National HS in Surigao City, Manggahan HS in Pasig City, and Antonio J. Villegas Vocational HS in Manila will battle out in being the best school in managing large classes or those classes with students ranging from 50 to 70.
PHL Math Tablet Courseware nominated in ISIF Asia Awards

A Philippine-made mathematics courseware for tablet users is nominated to this year’s Information Society Innovation Fund (ISIF) Asia Awards which gives recognition to the important contributions of innovation in giving creative solutions to social and economic development issues of the Asia Pacific Region.
A joint project of the Department of Science and Technology’s Science Education Institute (SEI) and the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), the project is nominated under the Innovations on Learning and Localization category.
SEI’s Geo-Marine Science Camp wows 59 studes, teachers

Fifty nine students and teachers from Regions IV-A, IV-B and V conquered Puerto Galera from the sea and up to the mountain in quest of fun yet extensive scientific learning.
This, as the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) in cooperation with the University of the Philippines’ Marine Science Institute (MSI) and National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS), conducted the 2013 Geo-Marine Science Camp last April 28 to May 4 in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.
