2014 Science and Technology Undergraduate Scholarships Now Open
The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), the country’s primary S&T human resources development agency, announces that the application for its Undergraduate Scholarship Programs, namely 1) RA 7687 Scholarship and 2) Merit Scholarship, is now open for talented and deserving students who wish to pursue 4- or 5- year courses in priority science and technology fields.
Qualified secondary senior students as well as high school graduates who have not undertaken any college units may already apply by completing the application forms found at the Science Education Institute, 2/F Science Heritage Building, DOST Compound, Bicutan, Taguig City; DOST Regional Offices; Provincial Science and Technology centers (PSTC) or Offices of the Congressmen and Senators. DOST Chief to new scholars: contribute to “Smarter PH’ drive
In order to fully achieve a ‘Smarter Philippines’, more scientists and engineers need to be on the same page with government goals.
This was the message that Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Mario Montejo addressed to the qualifiers for this year’s undergraduate scholarship programs of the science agency.
In the presentation of the new scholars of the DOST – Science Education Institute, Montejo reminded students of the critical role of science professionals in economic development through constant technology development and innovation.
3,597 HS grads qualify as new science scholars
The Department of Science and Technology through the Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), continues its mission of producing and developing future Filipino scientists and engineers as it announces the 3,597 high school students who qualify as DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholars starting School Year 2013-2014. This is 7.1% higher than the 3,359 number of qualifiers last year. Moreover, the number of municipalities with qualifiers also increased to 1,107 this year compared to 975 in 2012.
From the total number of the 2013 passers, 3,089 belong to economically disadvantaged families who qualified under the RA 7687 Scholarship grants, while 508 students who topped the examination qualified under the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program.
