Science Explorer gives love to Malabon studes on V-day

The Science Explorer, the country’s first and only mobile science learning facility, kicked-off 2013 by celebrating Valentine’s day thru fun learning with students of Malabon.
Armed with new Science modules on basic programming and internet for research, the team from the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) engaged 90 students from Longos National High School in interactive lessons and unique experiments on the said topics. The one-day session also featured the crowd favorite Robotics module.
308 studes reap medals in science and math contests, highest in Phl history

The year 2012 has set a new record in the history of international science and math competitions in the Philippines as the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) honors 308 elementary and high school students who has won gold, silver and bronze medals in the international arena.
DOST-SEI Director Dr. Filma G. Brawner said that 2012 was a record feat for the Philippines being the year with the highest number of Filipino elementary and high school students who reap medals in international science and mathematics competitions in a year.
All of the award winning students were given recognition by DOST with the Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Award, a DOST institutional award for exemplary achievement of the youth in the fields of science and mathematics and shall come in the form of a medal of distinction to be awarded by the Secretary of Science and Technology or the DOST Regional Director in a fitting ceremony toward the end of each year.
JCA stude nails PMO title

A 16-year-old math wizard from Jubilee Christian Academy topped the 2013 Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO), earning him a chance to represent the country to the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad in Santa Marta, Columbia in July 2013.
Justin Edric Yturzaeta was hailed national champion during the Awarding Ceremony of the 15th PMO held at the De la Salle University, Manila. He took home P15,000, a medal and a trophy while his coach Enrique Sabacan brought home P5,000.
